Alejandra Phelts was born in 1978 in Mexicali, Mexico, she began her art studies in 1998 at the Institut Privé de Philosophie et Théologie Saint Jean in Saint Jodard, France. She further enriched her studies by taking various courses in Art Appreciation and Art History in Northern Italy. After her stay in Europe, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at the Autonomous University of Baja California UABC.
Since 2001, Phelts has used a varied practice of installation, photography, painting, and drawing to explore the relationship between art,body, movement, and women.
Phelts' work has been shown in more than 60 exhibitions in France, Italy, Spain, Japan, United States, Monaco, Indonesia, China, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, and Oman. Phelts was selected to represent Mexico in exhibitions such as the XIX Japan International Art Exchange, National Art Center, Tokyo, Japan; in 2018, in the “Salon des Beaux Arts”, Salle le Nôtre Carrousel du LOUVRE, Paris, France; in 2016, the G20 Hangzhou China Global Arts Agenda, Hangzhou Quianjiang Art Museum, China; and in 2012 Miami River Art Fair, Art Basel Week, Miami, Florida, USA.
In 2017 she earned the ̈Honored Artist ̈ 1st Prize in the Latin American Art Fair, San Diego California, USA.
Complementing her artistic projects, Phelts also participated as a speaker in TED Talks at the Ibero-American University and CETYS Universidad Tijuana, she was invited as an art expert in Fontera Women of the Wall by the University of Southern California World Building Institute, and she has also collaborated in the conception and logistics of the International Symposium of Art SINERGIA 2021 by CETYS University.
